About Taste Contemporary Craft

"Contemporary craft is about making things.  It is an intellectual and physical activity where the maker explores the infinite possibilities of materials and processes to produce unique objects. To see craft is to enter a world of wonderful things which can be challenging, beautiful, sometimes useful, tactile, extraordinary; and to understand and enjoy the energy and care which has gone into their making."

Director, Crafts Council

About Taste

Taste celebrates the best in contemporary craft

We consider the contemporary craft market an exciting but relatively untapped segment of the art world. The ever-expanding desire to acquire what is 'new' in art may induce scepticism, but we believe the somewhat overlooked craft space offers collectors a wealth of stimulating
new experiences and opportunities. We want to challenge perceptions and encourage a wider appreciation among collectors for contemporary artists working in the craft tradition.

We champion the work of craft artists who push the boundaries. We include artists across all craft disciplines many of whom are already established with works in museums and private collection, as well as up-and-coming artists. Foremost, we are committed to promoting important and
innovative craft that is exciting, intriguing and challenges our assumptions about what is possible.

Taste will stage at least one major European exhibition annually that highlights a broad selection of craft disciplines. Taste will also host more exclusive thematic events throughout the year with a focus on specific artists or disciplines. Our ambition is to be a premier source for cutting-edge contemporary craft.
